An out-of-town rink took first place in the A event at the Duncan Curling Club Men’s Bonspiel on Jan. 5-7, but the next three spots belonged to teams from the host club.

The Richard Tanguay rink from Courtenay won the A bracket, sponsored by Duncan Iron Works, finishing ahead of local foursomes skipped by Wes Craig, Jason Montgomery and Larry Mattin.

Duncan-based rinks also won two of the other three events.

Bart Sawyer’s team took first in the B event, sponsored by Creative Woodcraft. Second place went to Powell River’s Pagani rink, followed by the Halliday and Coulombe teams from Victoria.

The C event, sponsored by Leon Signs, was won by the Muir rink from Esquimalt, with Craig Matthews from Kerry Park in second, Kevin Lamont from Duncan in third, and Dave Shortill from Kerry Park in fourt.

Duncan’s own Brent Dellebuur won the D event, sponsored by Ingram Pharmacy, with three more Duncan rinks rounding out the top four: Stephen Wiles, Al Swanson and Rod Challborn.

Up next at the Glen Harper Curling Centre is the Ladies Bonspiel on Jan. 26-28.
