Kristen Siermachesky will serve as operations manager

The Cowichan Valley Capitals’ new operations manager is a multi-sport athlete who will be pursuing her passion for rowing in the Cowichan Valley along with her career in sports management.

Kristen Siermachesky earned a BS in sport management while she played hockey for Syracuse University, captaining the team to its first-ever conference title in 2021. After graduating, she began her masters degree at the University of North Carolina, where she joined the rowing team.

Originally from New Liskeard, Ont., Siermachesky played 125 games for the Syracuse women’s ice hockey team from 2017-21, serving as assistant captain in 2019-20 and captain in 2020-21. She was also president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, vice president of the Diversity and Inclusion Board, and as an ambassador of David B. Falk College. She also worked with the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch and within the Syracuse Athletics Department of Student-Athlete Development. Upon graduation, Siermachesky was nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

In the fall of 2021, Siermachesky began to pursue her masters at UNC’s top-ranked sports administration program. As member of the UNC rowing team, she was named ACC Newcomer of the Year this spring, and has been invited to the Cowichan Valley to train with Rowing Canada.
