The Cowichan Lawn Bowling Club will be open all night on June 10 and 11 for a 24-hour bowl-a-thon fundraiser.

The Cowichan Lawn Bowling Club is inviting the community to take part in a unique fundraiser next month.

From noon to noon on June 10-11, the club is holding a 24-hour bowl-a-thon to raise money for the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation to help purchase equipment for the cancer ward. Club members will be bowling around the clock, with at least two teams of 12 bowling continuously. The club has also been asking local businesses to organize teams.

The event was the brainchild of club members Jim Irvine and Gord Fall, inspired after another member died of cancer.

“We’ve never done anything like this before,” Irvine said. “So why not give it a whirl?”

Individuals and teams from the community are encouraged to take part in the bowl-a-thon. The cost to participate is a $24. The Shriners will be on hand to provide breakfast, and will likely be around with their concession for more of the event.

For more information or to sign up for the fundraiser, contact Irvine at 250-746-4008 or Fall at 250-746-7758.
