Three Shawnigan Lake School hockey players were invited to the BCHL Prospects Game last month, the first time such a game has been played as part of the Bauer BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack.
Forward Maguire Ratzlaff (Abbotsford) and defencemen Owen Wheatley and Craig Mitchell-Hermann, all members of the Shawnigan varsity team and all originally from Abbotsford, were among those identified at the BCHL Exposure Camp in May and selected to play in the Prospects Game at the Showcase.
The players from the 2003 and 2004 age groups had the opportunity to play in front of the same college and pro scouts who were in Chilliwack for the Showcase.
“We’re thrilled to offer the stage to these talented young players at the Showcase,” said BCHL executive director Trevor Alto. “The scouts that attend our Showcase will love having a chance to see these future Junior hockey players taking the ice. We look forward to seeing these players on the rosters of our teams in the seasons to come.”
