The South Island Knights’ last game of 2016, ended in a 5-3 loss to the North Island Capitals at Fuller Lake Arena on Dec. 17.

The Knights tied the score at 3-3 with around five minutes left in regulation, but the Capitals restored their lead with two minutes remaining, then added an empty netter. Tanner Wiersma scored twice for the Knights and assisted on the team’s other goal by Jeremy Wiese. Rob McNutt had another solid outing in the South Island net.

The Knights will return to action on Jan. 7 and 8 with home games against the Powell River Regals.
