Triathlon results: oops, we goofed

Last Wednesday (June 4, 2014), the Citizen inadvertently ran results of the 2013 Shawnigan Lake Triathlon rather than the 2014 edition.

We were right about one thing: Desirae Ridenour of Cowichan Bay was once again the top female finisher in the high school super sprint, completing the 500m swim, 10km bike, 5km run course in 46 minutes and 34 seconds.

She wasn't the only Cowichan Valley athlete to win, however. Jill Ramstead of Duncan was the top female finisher in the sprint (500m swim, 22km bike, 5km run) with a time of one hour, 12 minutes and 36 seconds. Harry Beaumont of Shawnigan Lake was the top local male athlete in the sprint with a time of 1:13:20. Chris Cochrane of Duncan completed the Olympic course (1.5km swim, 44km bike, 10km run) in 2:36:37, while Lisa Helmer of Shawnigan Lake finished in 2:41:19. Jason Sandquist of Duncan finished the trestle challenge (1.5km swim, 44km bike, 21.1km run) in 2:59:10, and Lulu McCallum of Mill Bay finished in 4:14:25.
