Duncan Lanes duo wins tenpin title

Seven bowlers competed in Coquitlam competition

Seven Duncan Lanes bowlers competed at the Zone Bowling Centre’s second annual open tenpin tournament Jan. 6-7 in Coquitlam.

Bowlers Christina Van Aert and Stacey Sandholm were the best of seven Duncan Lanes bowlers who competed at the Zone Bowling Centre’s second annual open tenpin tournament Jan. 6-7 in Coquitlam.

The duo took top spot in the ladies’ doubles division with a total score of 1386 pins (scratch plus handicap).

With the win the ladies split the top prize of $98, according to club spokesperson Bob Linde.

In men’s doubles Linde and Cahoon placed 11th (1353).

Mixed doubles saw Van Aert team up with Linde to finish fourth (1346 pins), just missing the last cash spot, while Kim Bolton and Drew Dietz were eighth (1280), and Stacey and Mark Cahoon 10th (1215).

Bolton led the way in ladies’ singles for the Duncan bowlers with a four place result (702), 30 pins back of the last cash spot. Van Aert was seventh (596). On the men’s singles side, Dietz was 16th (682) and Linde was 19th (670).

The team event results had “Balls and Dolls” (Bolton and Dietz) finishing ninth while teamed up with a duo from the lower mainland.

“I Can’t Believe It’s Not Gutter” (Van Aert, Sandholm, Cahoon, and Linde) finished in 11th place.

In the all events handicap category, Bolton was tied for fourth with a 2004 total with Van Aert seventh at 1876 pins. The men’s all events handicap had Linde at 14th place (1970) and Dietz at 17th (1938) while Linde also competed in men’s scratch all events, finishing fifth with a total of 1682.
